Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and T776 Ledger when you use t776ledger.ca. Using the service means you accept them.

What the service does — and doesn't

T776 Ledger reads your bank and credit-card statements, helps you sort the transactions into the categories of the Canada Revenue Agency's Form T776, and calculates totals. It is not tax, legal or accounting advice, and it doesn't file anything with the CRA. You decide how each transaction is treated, and you're responsible for what you report. Review your return yourself or with a tax professional. Capital cost allowance (depreciation) is not calculated. T776 Ledger isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the Canada Revenue Agency.

Your account

• You must be an adult, and the statements you upload must be yours, or ones you're authorised to use.
• Keep access to your email secure — it's how you sign in.
• Don't misuse the service: no attempts to reach other people's data, overload it, or reverse-engineer it.

Price and payment

Sorting and reviewing are free. Unlocking a property's full report and exports for a tax year costs $29 (Canadian dollars), paid by card through Stripe. It's a one-time payment, not a subscription.

Refunds: if a report doesn't do what we describe, write to us within 30 days of paying and we'll refund it. Refunding a report locks it again.

Your data

Your data stays yours. We use it only to provide the service, as described in the privacy policy. You can download or delete it at any time.

Accuracy and liability

We work hard to read statements correctly and check each one against the totals your bank printed, but reading and sorting can be wrong, and the service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, including tax, interest or penalties, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms. Unpaid years are deleted after 30 days of inactivity, as the privacy policy explains.

Changes and law

We'll email you before material changes take effect. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and of Canada that apply there. The service isn't yet offered to residents of Quebec.
